| The County Treasurer, Michael G. Muzzey, is an elected position, which provides fiscal oversight for Belknap County. Under RSA 29:11 the County Treasurer issues the Warrant to each of the municipal units for their position of the tax levy. Taxes are generally due December 17th of each year, after which interest is charged daily at ten (10) percent on amounts that are overdue. No municipal unit has ever failed to pay its county taxes. | ||
| The Finance Department provides support and payroll to over 230 full and part time men and woman employed by Belknap County. The scope of our support covers everything from wages, benefits, human resources, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and safety awareness. There are three unions in Belknap County: Nursing Home, Jail/House of Corrections, and Sheriff’s Department, serviced by the State Employees Association (S.E.A.).
