Welcome

Welcome to the Belknap County Restorative Justice home page.

Our restorative Justice program began in July 2001 as a result of Judge Willard Martin organizing a group of Juvenile Justice professionals and area volunteers who identified problems in the Juvenile Justice system.

This group became known as the Belknap County Juvenile Justice Initiative or BJJI.

After 18 months of work, the group developed several programs including the Restorative Justice program would help fill the needs of the communities in Belnap County. In 2002, the program was formerly adopted by the Belknap County Commissioners. Originally operating through the Belknap County Sheriff’s Department, we now have our own offices in the Belknap County Courthouse in Laconia.

This website explains what Restorative Justice is and how it benefits the Victim, the Offender and the Community. We look for referrals from Belknap County Police Departments and Juvenile Advocates and Authorities. We always have need of Volunteers. We are available to make presentations about our program and to answer questions.
