What Is Balanced & Restorative Justice?

It is an alternative approach to dealing with juvenile crime and focuses on mending the damage caused by crime. The program encompasses a balanced commitment to have concern for the victim, repair the harm imposed on the community, hold the offender accountable through community service and build citizen skills and competencies in the juvenile offender.

What Does Restorative Justice Do?
  • Recognize that the real violation in crime is a violation of the people.
  • Allows individuals and community members to come to terms on a personal level with the harm that has been done.
  • Allows the victim and the community to speak freely about the harm that has been done.
  • Strengthen the offender’s relationship with the community.
  • Allows the offender to see the damage caused, and openly apologize for their actions.
