Restorative Justice of Belknap County
|
Welcome
| Welcome to the Belknap County Restorative Justice home page.
The Restorative Justice Program began in July 2001 as a result of Judge Willard Martin organizing a group of juvenile justice professionals and area volunteers who identified problems in the juvenile justice system.
This group became known as the Belknap County Juvenile Justice Initiative or BJJI.
After 18 months of hard work, the group developed several programs including the Restorative Justice Program. The intent of RJJ was to help fill the needs of the communities in Belknap County.
In 2002, the program was formerly adopted by the Belknap County Commissioners. Originally operating through the Belknap County Sheriff's Department, the Restorative Justice Program now has their own offices in the Belknap County Courthouse in Laconia, New Hampshire.
This website explains what Restorative Justice is and how it benefits the victim, the offender and the community. We look for referrals to the RJJ Program from Belknap County Police Departments and juvenile advocates and authorities. We always have a need for volunteers at RJJ. We are available to make a presentation about our program and to answer any questions.
